My overarching framework is drawn from a systemic approach when working with families, couples and individuals. System’s Theory focuses on how relationships and systems of people are emotionally interconnected and how tension within the processes of the system can lead to various interactional problems. Within having this lens, it is highly important for me to understand the context of each family (culture, race, socioeconomic status, age, living conditions, etc) and understanding people as they are from their own worldview.
Subsequently, I also utilize several approaches including Solution Focused Family Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy with couples. I am EMDR trained as a means to be able to effectively help those struggling with PTSD, Sexual/Domestic Abuse and trauma related issues.
